gooey butter cake recipe:

INGREDIENTS FOR THE CRUST:
cooking spray
1 box vanilla cake mix
6 tbsp. melted butter
1 large egg

INGREDIENTS FOR THE FILLING:
1 (8-oz.) package cream cheese, softened
1 stick melted butter
2 large eggs
2 tsp. vanilla extract
pinch of salt
1 (16-oz.) box powdered sugar (plus more for garnish!)

directions:
1. preheat oven to 350° and grease a 9"-x-13" baking pan with cooking spray. in a large bowl, combine cake mix, melted butter, and egg. press into prepared pan.
2. in another large bowl using a mixer, beat together cream cheese, melted butter, eggs, vanilla, and a pinch of salt. add powdered sugar and beat until smooth. Pour over crust and bake until golden and puffed, about 40 minutes. the center should still be gooey. let cool.
3. sprinkle with as much powdered sugar as your heart desires before serving.
